Muay Thai is the art of eight limbs. A traditional kick boxing art from Thailand that consists of Mastering hands, elbows, knees, & kick techniques.

Yes, in beginner to intermediate classes, all contact is controlled by the instructor’s instructions while conducting defense technique. NO contact in cardio kickboxing class. In the advanced class, yes, all protected gear must be worn (head gear, mouth gear, body guard, shin guards) because this is a full contact class.

80% of students train the art of Muay Thai for self-defense & for fitness. Therefore, sparring is NOT mandatory, however recommended. Fighters and competitors-it is mandatory to spar. Beginner to intermediate sparring is controlled & supervised by instructors. All protected gear will be worn at all times.

Kru Rick Fortes

Certified Professional Muay Thai Instructor. With 25 years Martial Arts experience including 20 years of Muay Thai Boxing.


In addition, has created many PRO & Amateur Champions. His training includes a professional level FAIRTEX Thailand training CAMP.


Training in Thailand every year since 2004. Kru Rick has had the opportunity to learn & train with FAIRTEX Champions. 


All Elk Grove Muay Thai Academy instructors are highly experienced and professional. Their goals are to train students to become strong independent individuals with a respect for others & live life through a positive mindset!
